3-bedroom single-storey house plans

The three-bedroom single-storey home is the Australian family staple, and the layouts here follow the pattern that keeps working: bedrooms grouped at one end, living and meals opening to the outdoor area, and the main bedroom separated from the other two. The variable worth most attention is where the kitchen sits relative to the living space and the back door.

Common questions

How big is a 3-bedroom single-storey home?
Typically 110 to 180 m² of internal floor area. Below about 120 m² something usually gives, most often the separate living area or the size of bedrooms two and three.
Should the main bedroom be at the front or back?
Both work and it depends on the block. At the front it separates cleanly from the other bedrooms and keeps the rear for living. At the back it gets the quieter aspect and the garden outlook, at the cost of walking past the living area to reach it.
